25. It has recently been announced that a large shopping center may be built in your neighborhood. Do you support or oppose this plan? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

A large shopping center has many exotic goods and their prices are relatively cheap. So there are more and more places under construction of big shopping center. However, building a shopping center that huge would bring some impacts to local town. Here are some aspects.

First, to build a large shopping center, it must need a wide range plain. This is usually acquired from farm lands which are suitable food sources for small wild animals. And to solve the traffic that is brought by shopping center, roads and parking lots also need to be built. These behaviors would also destroy the nature surrounding and environment. Protecting our environment is a big issues discussed worldwide. So factors related to environment should be considered when building shopping centers.

Second, the local business will be affected by a huge business like shopping centers. Shopping centers can provide abundant choices of stocks and the prices can be cheaper due to the large amount of goods they imported. Local business doesn’t have such advantages to compete with. There were already many true cases that local businesses were forced to shut down after a shopping centers came in.

Finally, people have to change their habits. Though some of people can earn their jobs in shopping center and customers can have more convenience, the life style originally existed would total disappear. Compare to past, buying stuffs in shopping center does not need a communication with a clerk. All you have to do is to choose you what you want and give it to the clerk , And the clerk uses a scanner to calculate your total amount. That is all. A tiny interaction with others would result in unfamiliar feeling between town residents.

As a result, I do not support the construction of large shopping center. The value of old living style would vanish. And the core value between people would be less important. Life is meant to be connected, isn't it?
